Where Hearts Come Home to a Country Christmas

Selecting and Caring for Your Special Tree

We have been growing Christmas Trees for you for 10 years.

We are a Choose and Cut Christmas Tree Farm.  This means that you can select a tree and cut it yourself if you desire.  If you need us we will be happy to help, but we do not wish to interfere with your Christmas tree selection.  We have available for your use: gloves, a saw, and a measuring pole.

After you have selected your tree, please bring it to the sales area.  If you need help, let us know.  We will then shake the tree to remove any natural debris and bale it with netting so that you will be better able to transport it in your vehicle.

While you are waiting, help yourself to some free hot chocolate or hot apple cider.  When your tree is ready for you to take home, we will help you put it in your vehicle.

When you arrive at your home, place the cut end of your tree in a bucket of HOT water and leave the tree in a shady cool area outside until you are ready to bring the tree in for decoration.  For best results you should cut an additional inch off the cut end of the tree before you put it in the tree stand.  This will renew its ability to absorb water.  Then immediately place the tree in a tree stand with HOT water.  Room temperature water can be used to replenish.  Fresh trees are thirsty.  They can drink a pint to a gallon of water a day depending on their size.  Please water your tree daily.  Do not let your tree dry out.  It may be necessary to make a new cut if the tree can no longer absorb water.

Fresh water daily will keep your tree moist through the Christmas season and will reduce fire hazard.  Christmas trees like it cool, so keep them away from fireplaces, wood burning stoves, space heaters, televisions, or other heat sources.  Inspect your light cords before stringing lights on your tree to make sure that they are in good condition and have good connections.  Always unplug your lights when you go to bed or leave the home.  Never use candles on, or near any Christmas tree (Real or artificial).  Have a safe and Merry Christmas!
